Lifelong learning:  Secretary for Education Eddie Ng introduces a policy and principles for credit accumulation and transfer under the Qualifications Framework.

Credit accumulation policy introduced

July 22, 2014

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng today announced the introduction of a policy and principles for credit accumulation and transfer under the Qualifications Framework to further support learning pathways for students.

Mr Ng said credit accumulation and transfer policy are applicable to Qualifications Framework Levels 1-7 and learning across the academic, vocational and continuing education sectors.

It recognises the education achieved and minimises repeated learning as well as the time and money involved. This encourages lifelong learning in students and enables institutions to attract new learners, he said.

The credit accumulation and transfer policy also helps education and training providers in developing or refining their systems, he added.

There are 7,500 approved qualifications in Qualifications Registers. The Government has helped 20 industries launch training advisory committees.
