Howard Lam probe underway

August 15, 2017

Police will investigate the case involving Democratic Party member Howard Lam in accordance with established procedures.

Secretary for Security John Lee made the statement to the media today in response to Mr Lam's recent arrest, saying Police will study the evidence for the case.

Mr Lam, who earlier claimed Mainland agents kidnapped and tortured him in Hong Kong, was arrested early this morning after CCTV footage surfaced on his whereabouts casting doubt on his claims.

Mr Lee said: "At this stage I think we should give time to the Police so they can conduct fair and thorough investigations."

Asked whether the incident will affect the launch of the co-location plan for the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, Mr Lee said he saw no relation between the incident and the plan.
