Co-location will be explained: SJ

July 08, 2017

The Government will give a full account of the co-location arrangements for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link when they are finalised.

Speaking to the media today after attending a radio programme, Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen reiterated that the arrangements will comply with the Basic Law.

He said when announcing the finalised arrangements, the Government will explain the rationale behind them, from the concept for co-location to the benefits it will bring to passengers and the link’s operation.

By doing so, he hopes the public will discuss the matter objectively.

When asked about the timetable to enact Basic Law Article 23, Mr Yuen said the Government has the constitutional responsibility to legislate on Article 23, but society needs to reach a consensus on the matter first.
