Customs officers have seized more than seven tonnes of pangolin scales worth $4.6 million from a container at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound.

They inspected a container arriving from Nigeria yesterday declared as charcoal and found the scales.

As they were not declared on the manifest they were seized for further investigation.
