A 47-year-old Vietnamese illegal worker was jailed for 15 months by Sha Tin Magistracy yesterday.
Immigration Department officers arrested the man in a frozen food warehouse in Lok Ma Chau where he was working illegally.
He is a non-refoulement claimant holding an immigration recognisance form that prohibits him from working.
He was charged and convicted for taking up employment in Hong Kong without the authority of the Director of Immigration and while being a person in respect of whom a removal order was in force.
An employer suspected of employing the illegal worker was also arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
