Secretary for Security TK Lai met British Minister of State for Security at the Home Office Ben Wallace in London today.
They discussed counter-terrorism, money laundering, cyber security and Hong Kong’s law and order situation.
Mr Lai then held a meeting with the Legal Aid Agency's Chief Executive Shaun McNally to learn about the legal assistance provided to asylum seekers.
He later met Visas & Immigration Deputy Director Sean Palmer and Immigration & Borders Deputy Director Philippa Rouse to discuss asylum and immigration screening policies.
He also visited the Upper Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber) where he was briefed on its work, including the handling of appeals against decisions relating to visa applications, asylum applications and the right to enter or stay in the UK.
Mr Lai then paid a courtesy call on Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming before departing for Geneva.
