Secretary for Security TK Lai visited Eastern District today to meet Eastern District Councillors and learn about the services for the elderly and youths provided by welfare organisations at the local level.
Mr Lai discussed law and order with the councillors and other community issues before proceeding to Eastern District Elderly Community Centre.
Commissioned in 1988, the centre provides a wide range of support services to the elderly, enabling them to live in the community in a healthy and respectable way.
Mr Lai also went to Youth Outreach to learn about its facilities and spoke with some of the youths there.
Opened in 2004, the Youth Outreach Jockey Club Building in Sai Wan Ho provides one-stop services to help at-risk youths grow into responsible citizens.
Mr Lai encouraged them to build self-respect and self-confidence.
