A Hong Kong employer and an illegal worker were jailed by Sha Tin Magistracy yesterday.
Immigration Department officers arrested an Indian man, 28, during a raid in Tai Po in September. He is a non-refoulement claimant holding an immigration recognisance form prohibiting him from working.
A local employer of the illegal worker was charged for hiring a person who is not lawfully employable and was sentenced to two months' imprisonment.
The illegal worker was charged with taking up employment without the authority of the Director of Immigration while being a person in respect of whom a removal order or deportation order was in force. He was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment.
