Ready to serve:  Wong Chi-hung (front row, second left) reviews 35 probationary inspectors and 222 recruit constables

Thirty-five probationary inspectors and 222 recruit constables graduated from the Police College today.

Retiring Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Wong Chi-hung inspected the passing-out parade, saying that the force has coped with different situations and taken on challenges in the changing society in the past with unremitting efforts.

He noted that thanks to the efforts of the force and the support of the public, the crime rate in Hong Kong last year dropped to the level of 1979.

He reminded the graduates to appreciate the expectations and needs of the public.

“As a law enforcement officer, we should discharge our duties with fairness, impartiality and compassion. We should also reach out and find out about people’s concerns and share those concerns with them. By doing so, I believe the services we provide will be gladly accepted and commended.”
