Hong Kong has signed an agreement with Japan to mutually recognise their respective Authorized Economic Operator Programmes.
Commissioner of Customs & Excise Roy Tang and the Director General of Customs & Tariff Bureau of Ministry of Finance of Japan Mikio Kajikawa signed the deal in Hong Kong today.
Under the pact, both places’ recognised Authorised Economic Operators can enjoy reciprocal trade facilitation benefits, such as reduced examination or expedited clearance for goods imported from or exported to each other.
This is the seventh arrangement Hong Kong has concluded with other customs agencies after the Mainland, India, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
Hong Kong Customs are discussing the arrangement with Australia and the European Union, and are making good progress.
