August 17, 2016

Summer fun

Summer fun:  Officiating guests visited the crime prevention booths produced by campers.

Acting Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung, Secretary for Security TK Lai and Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo visited the Junior Police Call Fight Crime Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village in Ma On Shan today.

The theme of this year’s summer camp was “Be Positive & Cheerful, Fight Crime at a New Perspective”.

The officiating guests took the opportunity to encourage Junior Police Call members to assist the Police in combatting crime and to instill positive values in their lives at the launch ceremony.

Mr Lai said the Junior Police Call scheme had been committed to promote sound life values among youth through multi-faceted activities, aiming to equip young people to be future leaders and fight crime partners.

A "Climate Change Bookmark Design Competition" was specially introduced this year to raise the youth's awareness of global climate change, encouraging the Junior Police Call members to conserve the environment.

After the ceremony, the officiating guests toured around the camp and visited the crime prevention booths produced by Junior Police Call members of 20 districts and an exhibition on climate change by the Hong Kong Observatory.
