Education centre director arrested

August 17, 2016

Customs today arrested a 38-year old male director of a private education centre in Tuen Mun for breaching the Trade Descriptions Ordinance by failing to provide services after having accepted payment from customers. He was put on bail pending investigation.

Officers earlier received complaints from members of the public alleging that the education centre closed down suddenly and failed to provide services, after they made pre-payments for interest classes and school admission interview courses.

The department reminded traders to comply with the ordinance and not to accept pre-payment if they are uncertain whether the services can be delivered at the agreed time.
