Customs officers have seized 7,300kg of suspected pangolin scales worth $14 million from a container at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound.
It was the largest seizure of pangolin scales in five years.
Customs officers yesterday inspected a shipment arriving from Nigeria declared as recycled plastic particles and found the scales.
As they were not declared on the manifest they were seized for further investigation.
