HK people in Turkey safe

July 17, 2016

The Immigration Department has received 15 requests for assistance involving 31 Hong Kong residents in Istanbul who reported they were safe.

Twenty-four of them have left Istanbul safely either returning to Hong Kong or proceeding to other destinations to continue their journeys, while the remaining seven residents chose to stay in Istanbul.

The department will continue to maintain close contact with them to provide assistance.

Meanwhile, the department has also received eight assistance requests involving 22 Hong Kong residents who were stranded in Antalya due to the re-directing of flights from Istanbul.

Twenty of them have left Antalya to continue their journeys, while the remainder will leave soon under the arrangement of the airlines.

The department reminded Hong Kong residents who plan to visit Turkey or who are already there to monitor the situation, attend to personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings.

Those who need assistance can call the Immigration Department at (852) 1868, the Chinese Embassy in Turkey at (90) 5388215530, the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Istanbul at (90) 5313389459, or the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Izmir at (90) 5358802656.
