July 1 arrangements set

June 29, 2016

To facilitate public order events, Police will implement crowd control management and special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island on July 1.

The events include a public meeting at Victoria Park and a procession from the park to the Central Government Offices.

Hong Kong Island Senior Superintendent (Operations) Tse Kwok-wai told the media today that ensuring public safety and order is the Police's top priority.

He called on people to follow the organiser's arrangements and Police instructions. He urged participants not to try to occupy roads or engage in activities that threaten public safety.

If groups wish to set up street booths along the route, they should apply with the authorities and take care not to cause obstruction to the procession, he added.

Noting media reports on the intention of some groups to organise public activities in Western District in the evening, Mr Tse urged them to contact Police so the force can facilitate the activities according to the law.
