Police watchdog chief reappointed

May 27, 2016

The Chief Executive has reappointed Larry Kwok as Independent Police Complaints Council Chairman and appointed two new members to the council for two years from June 1.

The two new members are Clement Chan and Wilson Kwong, while Clement Tao and John Yan were re-appointed for two years.

The appointment notice was gazetted today.

The Security Bureau thanked the council for its invaluable contributions in ensuring a fair, effective and transparent two-tier police complaints handling system in Hong Kong.

The bureau also trusts it will continue to discharge its statutory functions effectively and uphold the efficient running of the complaints handling system.

Established under the IPCC Ordinance (Cap. 604), the council is an independent statutory body that monitors and reviews the investigation of complaints against members of the Police Force.

The force has a statutory duty under the ordinance to comply with the council's requirements.
