A 35-year-old Pakistani illegal worker was jailed for 22 months and two weeks by Sha Tin Magistracy yesterday.
Immigration officers arrested him at a village house under construction in Ta Kwu Ling where he was working illegally.
The man is a non-refoulement claimant holding an immigration recognisance form that prohibits him from working.
He was charged and convicted for taking up employment in Hong Kong without the authority of the Director of Immigration and while being a person in respect of whom a removal order was in force.
