Police make independence warning

April 30, 2016

Police will take action against people who advocate Hong Kong's independence.

Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo told the media today the independence of Hong Kong contravenes the Basic Law.

He said Police will closely monitor organisations calling for independence and liaise with the Department of Justice.

Meanwhile, he said Police have issued a Letter of No Objection to the organiser of an anti-parallel trading protest in North District tomorrow, warning protesters to obey the law.
