3.6m holiday travellers forecast

The Immigration Department estimates 3.6 million passengers will pass through land, sea and air checkpoints during the Labour Day long weekend, up 2% on last year.

 

For outbound traffic, the busiest day will be April 30 when an estimated 385,000 travellers leave Hong Kong. Inbound traffic will be at its peak on May 2 with over 340,000 travellers arriving.

 

About 1.02 million travellers, a daily average of 255,000, are expected to pass through Lo Wu control point during the long weekend.

 

Passenger traffic at the Lok Ma Chau, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, and Shenzhen Bay control points will also be heavy, with a daily average of 83,000, 182,000 and 109,000 travellers forecast.

 

Travellers are advised to plan their trips in advance and avoid making their journeys during busy periods.
