The customs authorities of Hong Kong and Guangdong held a meeting today in Guangzhou to review their co-operation and to plan future joint actions.
The Hong Kong delegation was headed by Commissioner of Customs & Excise Roy Tang while the Guangdong one was headed by General Administration of Customs Vice Minister Lu Bin.
They reviewed co-operation on trade facilitation, anti-smuggling, anti-narcotics, intellectual property rights protection and staff training over the past two years. They also recognised the remarkable achievements arising from close co-operation on various fronts.
The two sides endorsed a co-operation plan for the coming two years. It includes augmenting trade facilitation initiatives, mounting joint anti-smuggling enforcements, and strengthening intellectual property rights protection and anti-narcotics actions.
They also agreed on mutual training programmes and reciprocal visits to enhance customs officers' enforcement and management capabilities.
