Police to facilitate July 1 procession

June 29, 2015

Police will implement crowd management controls and special traffic arrangements to facilitate public order events to be held on July 1, including a public meeting at Victoria Park, a procession from the park to Central, and another public meeting in Central.

At a press briefing today, Hong Kong Island Senior Superintendent (Operations) Tse Kwok-wai said the public meeting in Victoria Park will be held at 2.15pm at the six football pitches there.

The procession is to commence at 3pm, but will set off when meeting participants and those awaiting the start of the procession have occupied about 85% of the football pitches area.

In anticipation of a large number of participants, Police have urged the event marshals to work with their officers to facilitate the arriving crowd's orderly access to the venue for the meeting and the procession.

Participants are advised to be patient and adhere to arrangements made by the organiser and Police instructions on site.

Organisations wishing to set up street stations should apply for relevant licences from the concerned government departments.

They should also ensure their street stations will not cause unreasonable obstruction to the procession, nor endanger the procession's safety or that of other road users.
