Three protesters arrested

February 02, 2015

Police arrested three men for offences including assaulting a Police officer, obstructing Police, wounding, and assault at a public meeting outside Tai Po Market MTR Station today. Six Police officers and a man were injured in the melee.

At about 5.30pm, about 300 meeting participants clashed with members of another organisation outside the station. They shoved Police officers, charged the Police cordon line and dashed onto the road.

As their acts endangered public safety and order, posing danger to people at the scene, officers drew their batons and held up OC foam as a precaution after repeated advice and warnings.

The arrestees were aged 13 to 39. Police said there could be more arrests as their investigation continues.

The Police have reiterated their respect for the freedom of expression, speech and assembly. They will facilitate all lawful and peaceful public events but will take resolute enforcement actions against any illegal acts.
