Anti-drug chief appointed

The Chief Executive has appointed Dr Ben Cheung Kin-leung to succeed Prof Daniel Shek as Action Committee Against Narcotics Chairman, and appointed four new members to the committee.

 

Twelve members have also been reappointed.

 

The appointments are for two years from January 1.

 

Dr Cheung is the incumbent Chairman of the Sub-committee on Treatment & Rehabilitation. He is also a distinguished psychiatrist with rich clinical experience in treating psychotropic substance abusers.

 

The new members are Edwin Cheng, Dr Susan Fan, Simon Ip and Dr Annissa Lui.

 

Secretary for Security TK Lai said, with his professional knowledge and experience in anti-drug matters, Dr Cheung will help the committee combat the drug problem.

 

Mr Lai thanked retiring chairman Prof Shek for his work over the past six years, and the four outgoing members Dr Cheng Chi-man, Sylvia Siu, Ann So and Sylvia Yau.
