HK, Germany auto clearance to launch

October 29, 2014

Hong Kong and Germany will launch mutual automated immigration clearance services from November 1, the Immigration Department announced today.

Following a trial scheme in September, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region electronic passport holders will be able to enrol for the automated immigration clearance service in Germany, while German passport holders can enrol for Hong Kong's e-Channel service.

Adult Hong Kong residents holding a valid HKSAR electronic passport are eligible. They can register for the service at Frankfurt Airport or Munich Airport to be able to use the automated immigration clearance system at Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg airports.

Enrolment counters will open at the Dusseldorf and Hamburg airports later.

Adult German passport holders can enroll at Hong Kong International Airport or the Macau Ferry Terminal for the e-Channel service.
