Protesters’ violence deplored

October 19, 2014

Police strongly condemn protesters gathering at Nathan Road near Argyle Street in Mong Kok for suddenly attempting to charge Police this morning, as this seriously undermined public order and endangered the safety of themselves and others.

Protesters pulled over mill barriers and shoved Police officers. Police used minimum force to disperse them after repeated warnings to prevent the situation from deteriorating.

After putting back the mill barriers at the scene, Police returned to the original cordon lines and did not carry out clearance.

A man was arrested after officers found two knives in his rucksack.

Three people were injured and a Police officer’s left shoulder was dislocated.

Police appeal to the people at the scene to leave as soon as possible, while people should avoid that area for their personal safety.
