Customs & Marine Police officers seized 15 boxes of the latest model mobile phones, hard disks and RAM worth about $3 million at Wong Shek Public Pier in Sai Kung last night, foiling a suspected smuggling case.

The officers had spotted suspicious men loading goods onto a speedboat at the pier. When they took action, the suspects fled in the speedboat, leaving the goods behind.

Anyone found guilty of exporting unmanifested goods is liable to a maximum $2 million fine and seven years' imprisonment.
