SJ meets ferry families

September 19, 2014

Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen met the families of the Lamma ferry tragedy victims today.

He said Police have completed the criminal investigation into the Marine Department, and the Director of Public Prosecutions will study the evidence and decide whether to press charges within three months.

He told the media after the meeting that if the need for further evidence does not arise, the department will make a decision regarding prosecution within three months.

The meeting also saw discussion on the requests for disclosure of the internal investigation report on the tragedy conducted by the Transport & Housing Bureau.

Mr Yuen said the families have agreed that such requests can be handled individually without the need for a majority consensus.
