About 600 legal professionals, government officials and business representatives from Hong Kong and Qingdao took part in the third Hong Kong Legal Services Forum in Qingdao today.

Participants conducted a mock arbitration case at the forum to demonstrate how international arbitration can help resolve cross-boundary business disputes.

Addressing the forum, Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen said Hong Kong is an international financial and commercial centre, as well as an international arbitration centre.

Given the common culture and close geographical proximity with the Mainland, Hong Kong is an ideal neutral arbitration venue for Mainland and foreign enterprises, Mr Yuen noted.

The Department of Justice, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Bar Association, Law Society of Hong Kong, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (Asia Office) and China International Economic &Trade Arbitration Commission Hong Kong Arbitration Centre co-organised the biennial forum.
