The Department of Justice held a seminar in Yangon today promoting Hong Kong’s arbitration services.
Co-organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Singapore, more than 260 legal and business professionals attended.
Speaking at the seminar, the department’s Solicitor General Frank Poon said Hong Kong is an ideal place to conduct international commercial transactions and is a preferred venue for arbitration of commercial disputes for Myanmar businesses, particularly those involving foreign and Chinese companies.
He outlined Hong Kong's advantages, such as its strong legal infrastructure, the arbitration-friendly approach adopted by Hong Kong courts, its strong legal profession, its user-friendly arbitration legislation, and its world-class arbitration institutions.
