August 29, 2014
Police and other government agencies are well prepared for any actions by Occupy Central.
Speaking after today's Fight Crime Committee meeting, Secretary for Security TK Lai told reporters Police will facilitate all peaceful assemblies and expressions of opinion, however, participants must obey the law.
He said Police will take appropriate and prompt action to handle any situation that may arise.
On the law and order situation for the first seven months of the year, Mr Lai noted that overall crime dropped 6.1% on the same period last year to 39,850 cases.
Decreases were seen in cases such as woundings, serious assaults, burglaries, and criminal damage.
