HK, Germany auto clearance service set

Hong Kong and Germany will implement mutual automated clearance services from September 1, the Immigration Department announced today.

 

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region electronic passport holders will be able to enrol for the automated immigration clearance service in Germany; while German passport holders are expected to be able to enrol for Hong Kong’s e-Channel service in November.

 

Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above holding a valid HKSAR electronic passport with no adverse record in Germany are eligible.

 

They can register for the service at the Frankfurt Airport for using the automated immigration clearance system at the Frankfurt Airport, Munich Airport, Dusseldorf Airport and Hamburg Airport.

 

Enrolment counters will open at Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg airports in November.
