Hong Kong Police participated in an international investigation into "naked chat" blackmail cases, seeing the arrest of eight people in the Philippines on August 21 and 22.
Hong Kong exchanged information on the cases with authorities abroad, which helped unveil syndicates in the Philippines.
Philippine police arrested five men and three women, aged 23 to 45, and seized over 100 exhibits, including computers, mobile phones, cameras and identification documents.
They also rescued five minors who had been used by the culprits to lure "naked chat" victims.
Three of those arrested are believed to be connected to Hong Kong naked chat cases.
Hong Kong Police received 375 "naked chat" blackmail cases in the first seven months of this year, involving losses of $1.3 million. The figures for the same period last year were 192 cases and $760,000.
Police said it will continue to work with overseas authorities to fight such crimes.
