August 20, 2014

Police have arrested four drink drivers and issued 30 verbal warnings, 128 summonses, and 2,623 fixed-penalty tickets in a safe-driving campaign from August 13 to 19.

It was the latest in a series of enforcement campaigns targeting drivers of service and goods vehicles.

Of the bookings, 892 were for speeding, 320 for using mobile phones, 165 for not using seatbelts, and 151 for failing to comply with traffic lights.

Police visited 256 locations to distribute road safety leaflets and encourage people to report undesirable driving behaviour.
