Tourists warned to obey HK law

August 20, 2014

The Immigration Department today warned unruly visitors they risk being barred from Hong Kong if they break the law.

Responding to reports of local tour guides being attacked by visitors recently, Immigration Department Assistant Director (Enforcement & Removal Assessment) Fung Pak-ho said tourists in Hong Kong must abide by the law.

He said tourists convicted of crimes in Hong Kong are included in a watch list and may be repatriated when they try to enter the city again.

While the department is concerned about the recent incidents, he said figures show most tourists are law-abiding, and he called on visitors to express their dissatisfactions in a lawful manner.

He also urged people witnessing visitors violating the law to call Police.
