The Commissioner for Labour has rescinded Joins Employment Agency’s licence after its licensee, JS Employment, was fined $10,000 for overcharging a job seeker.
The Labour Department said it is an offence for an employment agency to charge a job seeker a commission that is more than 10% of the worker's first month's salary.
It said agencies must comply with the Employment Ordinance and the Employment Agency Regulations, and reminded jobseekers report overcharging agencies on 2852 3535.
