August 08, 2014

The latest batch of Police College graduates will be the first recruits to be awarded professional diplomas under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) Ma Wai-luk today officiated at the Oath of Office Ceremony for the recruits, marking a new milestone for police training programmes.

After undergoing enhanced training, Recruit Police Constables and Probationary Inspectors will respectively receive the Professional Diploma in Policing and the Professional Diploma in Leadership & Management in Policing, which have been accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications.

They respectively meet the accreditation standards of an Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma, and a Bachelor Degree, in the academic sector.

The Police College is the first training organisation in the Government to acquire accreditation status to run professional training programmes under the Qualifications Framework at Level 4 and Level 5.

Mr Ma said the milestone shows the college’s high standard of professional training and reaffirms it as a centre of excellence in police training and development.
