Crime fighters:  Police acting Director of Crime & Security John Ribeiro speaks at the conference's opening.

Commercial crime conference held

September 17, 2013
A two-day international commercial crime conference entitled “E-Crimes Without Borders – E-Crimes Sans Frontieres” opened today at Police Headquarters.

The conference, co-hosted by Hong Kong Police and the French National Police, addresses challenges such as cyber crimes which transcend international borders.

Speaking at the conference's opening, Police acting Director of Crime & Security John Ribeiro hoped that participants would be enabled to work together to apprehend criminals.

Speakers from local and international law enforcement agencies, as well as academic and private sectors, will share views on investigative challenges in cyberspace and on issues of laundering crime proceeds.

The conference focuses on the need for cooperation and corroboration between law enforcement and the private sector at both international and local levels, as well as the need to maintain training and capacity building at all times.

The event has attracted more than 100 delegates from 18 places across Europe and Asia-Pacific, including the Mainland, Macau and Hong Kong.
