August 08, 2017

New parking meters will be commissioned under a trial scheme for motorists to use contactless credit cards to pay parking fees.

The Transport Department announced today the New Parking Meter System Trial Scheme will be conducted in Sai Kung and Wan Chai from 10am on August 15 and 18 until early next year.

Twenty new parking meters, covering 60 parking spaces at 94-120 Man Nin Street in Sai Kung and 7-9 Oi Kwan Road in Wan Chai, will be involved.

Parking fees can be paid via Visa payWave, MasterCard Contactless and UnionPay QuickPass, along with Octopus.

The operation mode of the new parking meters, including the charging rates, the period of operation, the longest parking period allowed and the vehicle types allowed, will remain unchanged.
