The Transport Advisory Committee has welcomed the Government’s efforts to boost road works safety.
The committee met today to discuss the Government's progress in road maintenance and the review of road works safety requirements.
Members noted two new road maintenance methods have been adopted, namely the use of better deformation-resistant bituminous materials and rapid-hardening concrete.
They also noted the revised Code of Practice for the Lighting, Signing & Guarding of Road Works has been gazetted in accordance with the Road Traffic Ordinance.
The revised code will take effect on January 1 to improve safety protection measures for road works.
Committee Chairman Larry Kwok said: "The Committee welcomes the Government's work on improving road works safety continuously in order to enhance safety protection for road works workers."
