A seminar on traveller identification management opened at the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters today.
The Traveller Identification Programme Regional Seminar was jointly organised by the department and the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The organisation’s Secretary-General Dr Fang Liu, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Dong Zhiyi, Permanent Secretary for Transport & Housing (Housing) Joseph Lai and Director-General of Civil Aviation Simon Li attended the opening ceremony.
The three-day conference gathers representatives from the aviation industry and border control authorities from more than 45 countries.
Participants discuss global measures to combat terrorism, cross-border crime and other threats to international aviation.
The department said Hong Kong is the first city in the Asia-Pacific region to host the event which highlights the city’s status as an international aviation hub.
