The Civil Aviation Department today asked all airlines operating flights to and from Hong Kong to remind passengers not to carry Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones during air travel.
The request was made in view of the potential risk of the phone and the latest requirements of the US Federal Aviation Administration.
Passengers should not carry the device in carry-on baggage or checked-in baggage.
Local airlines have updated their passenger advisories.
The Airport Authority is reminding travellers at the airport of the measure through public announcements and via security staff.
