The Planning Department and the Civil Engineering & Development Department are hosting an exhibition for visitors to explore rock cavern development and former quarry sites in Hong Kong.
Speaking at the opening ceremony today, Director of Planning Ling Kar-kan said the departments have been conducting planning and engineering studies, including the exhibition's highlights - planning the study on former quarry sites and the study on the long-term strategy for cavern development.
Civil Engineering & Development Director Daniel Chung said rock cavern development is highly suitable in Hong Kong given its geological and geographical setting.
To meet social needs, developing rock caverns in a strategic manner can bring about opportunities in the long-term planning and development of Hong Kong.
The exhibition will be held at City Gallery in Central from July 20 to September 28.
To tie in with the exhibition, a seminar on the development of hidden land resources will be held at City Gallery.
