The Civil Engineering & Development Department today signed an $8.731 billion contract with Leighton-China State Joint Venture for the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel main tunnel and associated works. 

 

The project will provide a new tunnel to alleviate the traffic congestion during peak hours at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel and to meet the traffic demand arising from the anticipated population increase in Tseung Kwan O.

 

It will also improve traffic conditions in Kwun Tong and cope with the future developments in the district.

 

This contract mainly covers the construction of the main tunnel, tunnel portal facilities, ventilation buildings and an administration building.

 

It also includes the implementation of the associated building, civil, structural, marine, electrical and mechanical, landscaping and environmental protection and mitigation works.

 

The works are scheduled for completion by mid-2021.
