Five experts have been invited to join a panel to study water safety and advise the Government on the matter.
The report of the Commission of Inquiry into Excess Lead Found in Drinking Water was released today.
Secretary for Development Paul Chan said the Government accepts the report's recommendations and will form an international expert panel on water safety to advise on water quality standards, the regulatory and monitoring regime, and water sampling protocol.
The report suggested the Government review the adequacy of the legislative framework and regulatory regime in safeguarding the safety and quality of drinking water in Hong Kong.
Mr Chan said the Development Bureau and the Water Supplies Department will study and implement the recommendations.
