Construction contractors, supervising teams, site supervisors and workers with outstanding safety performance were commended at the 22nd Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme presentation ceremony today.
Sixty-two sites were awarded under the scheme this year, 33 came from the public works stream and 29 from the non-public works stream.
Officiating at the ceremony, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) Hon Chi-keung said the scheme has been widely supported by the industry over the years.
The number of participating projects rose from 28 in the first year to 319 this year.
Mr Hon added that the Temporary Works Excellence Award will be introduced later this year to encourage industry members to share their invaluable experience to enhance the trade's overall safety performance.
Jointly held by the Development Bureau and the Construction Industry Council, the scheme raises safety awareness on construction sites and promotes good site safety, health and environmental practices by commending outstanding role models.
