Construction Safety Week 2016 is being held from today until May 27 under the theme "Design for Safety".
The programme includes a construction safety conference, visits to construction sites with exemplary safety performance and the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme Award presentation ceremony.
This year's activities encourage construction professionals to systematically assess construction risks at different project stages in advance and devise corresponding risk control measures, said Deputy Secretary for Development (Works) Chan Chi-ming.
Two experts from the United Kingdom and a local expert will share their insights at a conference today.
Mr Chan added that the Temporary Works Excellence Award competition will be introduced later this year to encourage construction practitioners to enhance safety performance through sharing their invaluable experience in designing temporary works.
Construction Industry Council Construction Safety Committee Chairperson Ada Fung said a recent survey found that most industry members agreed the campaign helped promote a safety culture and enhanced their safety awareness, reflecting the sector's tremendous support for the campaign.
