Wai Chi-sing has been appointed Urban Renewal Authority Managing Director for three years from June 15.
He will succeed Daniel Lam who has served in the post since June.
Secretary for Development Paul Chan said Mr Wai is a veteran professional engineer with an outstanding record in infrastructure development, project management and public administration.
Mr Wai was selected through an open recruitment exercise conducted by a consultancy firm. Shortlisted candidates were considered by a selection panel chaired by Financial Secretary John Tsang. Panel members included Paul Chan, Executive Council member Chow Chung-kong, URA Chairman Victor So and URA Board Member Stanley Wong.
Mr Chan thanked Mr Lam for his contribution in the past year.
"His exceptional leadership and extensive experience were invaluable to the URA's efforts in fulfilling its mission in urban renewal," Mr Chan said.
