Laundry rack replacement on track

April 27, 2016

The Housing Authority has replaced pole holders with laundry racks in flats in 18 public rental housing estates since 2014.

Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung told legislators today the replacement programme involves 162 estates. It is due for completion by next year as scheduled.

Replacement works have started in 31 estates, and works contracts for another 111 estates have been awarded.

Replacement work in Ap Lei Chau and Fu Shan estates will be done with other redecoration works to save costs, and is due for completion next year.

The Housing Department is conducting tests on racks to ensure quality. All have proven satisfactory so far.

Contractors will provide a three-year warranty for the racks, and the authority will be responsible for subsequent maintenance.
