Festive greetings

Festive greetings:  Secretary for Development Paul Chan (third left) visits the Po Leung Kuk Sham Shui Po Day Care Centre for the Elderly.

Secretary for Development Paul Chan today visited a day-care centre for the elderly in Sham Shui Po and elderly residents in Pak Tin Estate to offer his Lunar New Year greetings.

At the Po Leung Kuk Sham Shui Po Day Care Centre for the Elderly, Mr Chan was briefed on the facility's care, nursing and support services, and chatted with seniors taking part in recreational activities and rehabilitation exercises.

The centre serves people aged 60 or above living in Sham Shui Po and Wong Tai Sin. Apart from personal and nursing care services, it also offers counselling and referral services, as well as support to carers.

At the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council's Sham Shui Po District Elderly Community Centre, Mr Chan spoke with its users and then visited an elderly singleton and an elderly couple living in Pak Tin Estate to understand their daily lives and social care needs.

He reminded them to keep warm during the cold weather forecast for the Lunar New Year holiday, and presented festive gifts to them, wishing them good health and happiness.

Mr Chan thanked the two organisations for providing care to the elderly, enabling them to lead happy and healthy lives.

He also encouraged the community to show more care for seniors and to visit them during the holiday to share festive love and warmth.
