Property sales down 41%

The Land Registry recorded 3,123 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in January, down 41% on December and down 62.4% year-on-year.

 

The 12-month moving average for January was 5,914, which was 6.8% below the 12-month moving average for December and 15.5% below that for January 2015.

 

The total consideration for sale and purchase agreements in January was $20.7 billion, down 43.5% on December and down 61.5% year-on-year.

 

Among the sale and purchase agreements, 2,045 were for residential units, down 49.4% on the previous month and down 68.1% compared with January 2015.

 

The total consideration for residential units was $15.8 billion, down 47% compared with December and 63.4% less year-on-year.

 

The public made 359,309 land register searches during the month.
